Oh hi! What the hell are we doing? Checking in from a country where I’m blessedly unlikely to be shot in the face by murderous rednecks with prosecutorial immunity.

My old Instagram profile pic was me “doomscrolling” in 2020; it now feels appropriate to upgrade to something more akin to “traumagorging.” I don’t know what’s scarier; the steadily increasing horror of the last 10 years, or the fact that all these fascist goons have been just quietly walking among us our whole lives, waiting for the rat-signal from their billionaire overlords to become emboldened and unleash pure hate and cruelty on their neighbors. And that includes the armchair bootlickers that soberly engage in reality-denying mental gymnastics to justify murder, kidnapping, and the demise of due process. Please, for my sanity, tell me I’m still in the majority of Americans with basic empathy and critical thinking skills.
