My mom loves these posts! (Sorry mom.) A’feared of getting rusty, I found a sketch group that meets twice a month. There’s no instructor, so it doesn’t quite provide the same level of feedback as my usual class, but it doesn’t hurt to take the training wheels off once in a while.
Since I’m always in a rush to try out cool new gadgets, I recently purchased the Adonit Jot Touch, an iPad stylus that boasts pressure sensitivity. What that means is, with the right software, my iPad can behave much like my Cintiq, varying brush size and opacity based on how hard I press down on the tip. The most recent update of an app called Procreate really takes advantage of this feature; it’s the only drawing app I’ve found that has basically no lag while drawing, and that, combined with true pressure sensitivity, really nails the feeling of putting pen to paper.
