Since I’m on my second round of watching the new season of Arrested Development, I thought I’d sketch an iconic image from season 1.

I know I need to learn more pop-culture references for my Improv classes, but I never knew I’d need them for figure drawing. I went to a drink-and-draw in Brooklyn, and my coworker decided that the 60-something male model resembled Ganondorf from the Legend of Zelda, and we should all draw him as such. One great thing about having the parents in town is that I find a lot more opportunities to draw on restaurant tables. At dinner tonight, there was an older man in a powder blue suit downing bourbon and receiving occasional accolades from passersby, as if he were a celebrity. Maybe he was just well-known in the neighborhood. This is two separate sketches colliding; he didn’t really have glassware on his head.
